Ionna the owner/manager at the location was so sweet and kind, George her son was incredibly helpful and responsive when messaging him through booking.com throughout the stay. He also helped me arrange a taxi on short notice to get to the airport. I didn't cook, but there was also a full kitchen with supplies available to use. Amazing shower and water pressure also! More

The apartments are just a few minutes out of the... read more main town of Agios Nikolaos on the main road, which means rooms at the front have a spectacular unhindered view across the whole bay. Our room was large, bright and cheerful, and the double-glazing keeps noise from outside to a minimum. Some improvements could be made (larger shower area, more storage space), but these modernisations are being done bit by bit.

There's a small beach opposite, and the apartments are very close to plenty of good bars and cafes - Toedeleokie cafe is great, and To Pareaki restaurant is one of the best. The location also makes it easy to take a stroll down to some of the other great restaurants at the other end of the bay, away from Agios Nikolaos main town.

The best thing of all though are the owners - George and his mother are extremely hospitable and accommodating, and they'll do anything for you to ensure your utmost comfort.

We woke later that morning to a picture-perfect sun rising over the island in the distance and to the most astounding sea view we have encountered in all our years of holidaying and traveling to the wonderful island that is Crete.
Our spacious two bed apartment was furnished with lovely authentic Greek furniture, cooker, kettle, coffee maker, fridge, wall mounted flat screen television, the beds were very comfortable, with a modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. An iron, ironing board and hair dryer are also available free on request. The air conditioning (again free) worked perfectly although seldom used due to the constant gentle sea breeze whilst sitting on the balcony or sleeping with the mesh doors closed and glass balcony doors open, there is nothing better than drifting off to sleep listening to the lapping of the waves at night.
We have stayed many times on the island of Crete and whilst all of our stays have been very enjoyable, our stay at MELAS hotel – apartments stands out for the standard of cleanliness of the accommodation, the helpfulness, kindness and hospitality of the owner and staff, the location, and that sunrise & sea view!
